George Cullers accepting Conservation Partners Award

Outdoor Youth Day is only possible because of Community Partners and Sponsors who collaborate both to underwrite this event and to provide activities. It's this tandem investment of community-based organizations coming together that make Outdoor Youth Day freely available to get kids outdoors.

This year we’re creating enriching experiences for both children and the young at heart. Outdoor Youth Day ‘24 promises to be an unforgettable event packed with exciting activities and opportunities to connect with nature.

Experience the thrill of the great outdoors with a lineup of engaging activities and attractions designed for all ages. As always, our goal is to get families outdoors, and this year we aim to enhance the outdoor experience for all family members.

We’re bringing back favorites like rock climbing and canoeing while adding new activities like bike rodeo! And we’re adding value for the adult members of the family through captivating guest speakers and workshops exploring various aspects of nature. There will be something for everyone at Youth Day 2024.

Special Guests:

A Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will lead outreach focused on responsibly protecting and enjoying the outdoors. Using the power of science, education and stewardship, Leave No Trace is on a mission to ensure a sustainable future for the outdoors and the planet.

Stacy Bare (Friends of Grand Rapids Parks) is a husband, father, skier, biker, and general outdoorsman. Upon his return he found healing and connection back to America through time outdoors.

Outdoor Youth Day History:

Outdoor Youth Day traces its origins back to a simple yet powerful idea: "get kids outdoors!" Spearheaded by local outdoorsman George Cullers, the concept aimed to provide young individuals with hands-on experience in outdoor activities, free of charge, with the hope of igniting a lifelong passion for nature. Held annually at Charlton Park in Barry County, this inclusive event welcomes participants of all ages and backgrounds, embodying its mission to preserve Michigan's outdoor heritage by inspiring future generations to appreciate and protect natural treasures.

Since its inception in 2014, Outdoor Youth Day has grown into a cornerstone of our community, offering families a fun, skill-building, educational, and entertaining outdoor experience. From toddlers to teens, attendees can explore over 30 hands-on activities, including kayaking, fishing, archery, shooting sports, hiking, mountain biking, camping, and more. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to witness a variety of sport demonstrations and outdoor education displays, facilitated by local experts who generously share their knowledge and expertise.
